Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard. Young. Strong. Athletic. At his young age Dwight Howard already dominates the league through his athleticness and power. Despite his strong attributes like dunking or rebounding the ball this young player still have so much room for improvement. Being the best dunk and rebounder of the league last year he still has great flaws to this game. Dwight Howard doesn't have a good jumpshot. He has too much turnovers. The turnovers will decrease with being more experienced in future. But him learning how to shoot the ball from 5 to 7 feet is a harder task for him to master. Being able to shoot the ball is uncharacteristic
He also shines through his humor and good sportsmanship. Both of these features are great for becoming a great player in future.

Rare Athlete To Respect Shaquille O'Neal

O'Neal is interesting for other reasons, though. Despite all of his wealth, he has a desire to do good in life. Perhaps it is due to his mother and stepfather, a military man named Phil Harrison, that have guided him. Shaq always refers to Harrison as his father without a blink. In reality that is so since Harrison did all the heavy-lifting in terms of raising a family.
Shaquille married his longtime girlfriend with whom he has children. That may not sound like a big deal but it sends a message. This is particularly true for the black community since the out-of-wedlock birthrate is an astounding 70%. Marriage sends a positive message instead of the view of another athlete just running around impregnating anything that moves.
O'Neal also went back and got his college degree. A cynic would say, "Why bother?" but it is an accomplishment for him and a promise to his mother. It also says college is important since virtually nobody will become an NBA player despite the marketing of it everywhere. You have a better chance of getting hit by lightning.

Duncan

Since Tim Duncan entered the league he has always been one of the best players. Tim Duncan stayed in school at Wake Forest for all four years, and this paid off for him immediately when he got to the NBA. Unlike a lot of players that make the leap too early, Tim Duncan allowed his game to develop at the college level. For this reason he instantly became one of the best players in the league. He has shown this time and time again; year in and year out.

The best thing about Tim Duncan is that he can do it all. For the San Antonio Spurs Tim Duncan is consistently the leading scorer as well as the leading rebounder. To go along with this he also gets a couple of blocked shots each game as well. This makes Tim Duncan one of the best all around players in the league. And thanks to him, the Spurs always find themselves going deep into the playoffs. And a couple of times in Tim Duncan’s career he has finished off these playoffs runs with an NBA title.

Chris Paul -Kobe Battle For MVP

Chris Paul is a prodigy, the best point-guard in the NBA. He is a leader, on and off the court, and should be an all-star for years to come. The question is, is Paul ready to be the NBA MVP? Kobe Bryant thinks it is his time, and maybe he is correct. The NBA MVP is not a lifetime achievement award, however, and from that standpoint, Chris Paul has as a good a chance as anyone to win it.

The only others with any hope of the MVP award would be Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics, and LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Garnett has had a monster season, leading the Celtics with the best record in the NBA.

Kobe Bryant will have the luxury of being at home, but the Hornets have been hot, staving off all NBA West comers, still atop the NBA West, in what has been the most competitive NBA Conference in NBA History.

NBA Superstar Kobe Bryant

During his rookie NBA season, which occurred in 1996-1997, Kobe Bryant played in 71 games and started in six. He was selected to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team and became the youngest player to ever start an NBA game when he was 18 years, five months and five days of age. By the 1997-1998 season, Kobe Bryant was ready for action as the points just kept racking up at each game. During the 1998-1999 season, Bryant was named to the All-NBA Third Team. The following season, which was held from 1999-2000, found Kobe Bryant remaining atop of the mountain on the NBA players list. In addition to being named to the 1999-2000 All-NBA Second Team, he was also honored with the NBA All-Interview Second Team, the NBA All-Defensive First Team and was named the NBA Player of the Week from April 10-16, 2000.

By the time the 2000-2001 season rolled around, Kobe Bryant was a household name. After appearing in 68 games and averaging 28.5 points per game, Kobe ranked among the league leaders in scoring. In 2001-2002, Bryant played in a career-high 80 games, in which he averaged 25.2 points each and was again ranked among the league’s scoring leaders. In 2002, he was named as the Most Valuable Player of the NBA All-Star Game.

During the seasons that followed, Kobe Bryant continued to score points both on the court and in the hearts of NBA fans. With an average of 24 points per game in the 2003 season, Kobe was selected to the 2003-2004 All-NBA and All-Defensive First Team. The 2004-2005 season found Bryant on the All-NBA Third Team. In January 2006, Kobe Bryant scored 81 points in a single game, which is the second All-Time in NBA history.

NBA Career Of Lebron James

In 2003, LeBron James was chosen in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was the first pick overall and has remained with the team that first introduced him into the NBA. During his rookies season, James started in 79 games and went on to become the youngest player to score 1,000 points in NBA history.

In 2004, LeBron James continued his love of basketball as he became a member of the 2004 United States Olympic Team, which went on to win the Bronze Medal. During the eight games that were played during the competition, LeBron averaged 5.4 points, 1 rebound and 1.6 assists.

During the 2004-2005 NBA season, LeBron James started in 80 games and was named All-NBA Second Team, which earned him the honor of being the youngest player in league history to be given All-NBA honors. His record-breaking streak continued as he surpassed the franchise record for points in a single season, became the youngest and second-fastest player to reach career numbers and became the second All-Star starter in Cavalier history.

Bynum Return Pushed Back To Playoffs

The Los Angeles Lakers wait on Center Andrew Bynum and his injured knee. His return date has now been pushed back to (perhaps) the start of the NBA Playoffs.

The Lakers are desperate for help at their big-man positions, as their place atop the NBA's West is shaky at best without Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol. Bynum, who was expected to originally been back to the Lakers lineup by now, is still not fit for NBA action.

Team Officials are now saying that indications are, Bynum could be ready for the Playoffs. There will be no time to waste once the NBA Playoffs begin, and an Andrew Bynum that is not in NBA game-shape may be more a liability than help come playoff time. There really is not much the Los Angeles Lakers can do in that regard, and there needs to be patience while Bynum heals. Bynum is doing everything he can to rehabilitate his knee, which was temporarily dislocated to go with a deep bone bruise.

There is no doubt that a healthy Bynum and Gasol will make a huge difference in the Lakers' chances to make it to the NBA Finals. The prospect of facing the Phoenix Suns, with Shaquille O'Neal, or Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs without the Lakers' big-men will probably spell a playoff finish for Los Angeles.

Hall of Fame System In NBA

When you have that bar discussion if Mitch Richmond or Robert Horry belongs in the Hall-of-Fame, remember that answer is probably no. Several once sure-fire Famers aren't guaranteed anymore, not after Dominique Wilkins, 9-time all-star and former slam-dunk champ was skipped from the Hall last year. Gary Payton is in the same boat as Wilkins, and might not get into Springfield as quickly as he might have hoped. But why exactly did Wilkins get skipped?

Let's get one thing straight: the NBA has a Hall-of-Fame system might just be worse than Baseball's. For some reason, there is no "NBA Hall-of-Fame"; instead we get the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame. The difference in this politically correct age that we live in is that nobody gives a damn about any basketball Hall, other than the one that the pros go in to. Now all factions of basketball greats go into just one Hall-of-Fame, so we notice some other stars, if only by accident.

It's a decent idea on paper, but you know it's a failure when Dominique Wilkins doesn't get in. The most bizarre portion of the Hall inductees is that they elect in everyone, even players who played in the Europe leagues. Of course, Wilkins played in the European leagues, but I guess that was missed somehow in the voting. Why exactly should we care about non-American athletes-I'm pretty sure they don't care about us. Tell me how a guy named Drazen Dalipagic can get in, and Dominique Wilkins cannot?

Casual fans will say that he might not deserve to get in because he never won a ring. Of course, that argument has to be nullified when you sit down and realize that Darko Milicic, Isaiah Rider and Tyrone Lue all have rings. Are you going to award a guy who's the 12th man on a championship team more than a great player who stuck with one lousy team? If you did, then welcome to the Hall Will Purdue.

NBA Players Are Broke After 5 Years of Retirement

Shaquille O'Neal of the Miami Heat was in the news recently with a court document representing his annual income as well as his annual and monthly spending. The "Diesel" pays $156,000 a month just in rent and mortgages on the various properties he owns or leases and another $1500 just for his cable TV bills! Of course Shaq is on another level than most other NBA players with the simple fact that he pulls in $20 million a year in salary but this still shows you a great example of the kind of money players are capable of spending.

Remember former Chicago Bull, 6 time NBA Champion, Michael Jordan running mate and top 50 player of all-time Scottie Pippen? Just 2 years removed from retirement, Pippen was back in the news looking to make an NBA comeback to a team that was a title contender. NBA teams laughed at a Pippen return which was later rumored to be based on his poor financial standing. The rise and fall of Pippen was so drastic that he was seen overseas playing 2 games for Finnish powerhouse, Helsinki ToPo to make a little cash.

Besides the fact that players fork out all of this dough for houses, cars and cable bills you still can't forget that many of them have multiple children from multiple women. This is yet another expense that must be accounted for and child support is one of those bills that doesn't go away for at least 18 years. Again, you can see how 5 years removed from an NBA career with 2-3 child support payments a month and you could run out of millions pretty damn fast.

Famous Players in 2008

Soccer Portugal is one of the undefeated teams in Europe. They have achieved many titles and have won championships in the league. Football has also made a big impact to the people of Portugal and is also a part of their lives. In today's generation some of the famous players are Portuguese and are proud to be.

Deco - Anderson Luis de Souza also known as Deco to fans is playing for Chelsea. He is a Portuguese Brazilian and also playing for the Portugal national team. He has gained various awards and given recognition as the pioneering player who won the UEFA Midfielder of the year.

Nuno Gomes - Nuno has also started his professional career at a young age. He became a professional player for Portugal and has joined his club the Benfica at 1995. He made a debut and became popular during the UEFA 2000. His playing position as a striker has given him much credit and making him famous.

Nani - This famous player has started at a young age to become a professional player. He signed a contract for Manchester United in 2005 and was a part of the Portugal national team. He has made appearance in six UEFA and has goaled once. It is a big leap for him that a young age of 21 he has already gained a lot of success in his professional career.

Roles of a Good Soccer Goalie

Soccer is not all about scoring goals but must also posses a good goalie in order to have greater chance of winning. Good goalies must have a strong leadership and confidence in order to encourage other team members to cooperate accordingly.

Goalies must be keen in analyzing and anticipating any attempts from the opponent. Another factor that can contribute to being an effective goalie is the ability to react in split seconds which is very crucial because a skilled striker can attack in the very least time unexpectedly.

A goalie should also have the proper stance or position ready to jump anytime the ball is shot for the goal. A powerful shot can be difficult to catch but with the proper technique it would be very easy for the goalie. The most common technique in catching is the "W" technique. This technique involves shaping the thumbs and fingers in a diamond like shape so as to provide the best support and helps in preventing the ball from slipping.

Dribbling a Soccer Ball

The best technique when dribbling is to use the outside of the foot where ever possible. This enables you to run normally, and so more efficiently and faster. Of course if you change direction or make a feint, then you will use the inside of your foot or the instep (the top of your foot), but practising running and dribbling with the outside of your foot is the way to go!

You need to keep the ball as close to you as possible, so that the opposition cannot get the ball. How close is that? Well it depends on where the opposition is and how fast they are. If they area is congested and there are lots of defenders, then you will need to keep the ball within touching distance at all times, that is about a foot or so away. If there is a lot of space, and you want to get forward very quickly, then keeping the ball about 5 yards away whilst running fast allow you to run faster. There are times when you are not really dribbling but running with the ball, and there will be times when it is to you advantage to "knock" the ball past the defender and chase it, especially if you are confronted with the last defender and there is a lot of space behind the defender. Can you guess what the advantages are? The knock and run turns the challenge into a foot race, so if you are faster, then you will probably have a chance to shoot. If the defender gets there first, you still have an advantage because he is facing the wrong way and you will get the chance to put pressure on him while he is facing the wrong way, and may get a throw in or even better, a corner.

The Prestigious Euro Cup

being participated by many professional leagues in different countries of the world. In line with the tournament, winning team of the UEFA Champions League is awarded with the European Cup trophy. The trophy has been battled for many years by among the best and strongest leagues in the world.

The original trophy was donated by a French sport newspaper company named L'Équipe. In 1967 the Real Madrid team was lucky enough to win and received the trophy as their permanent possession. It was based on the ruling that who ever team wins for 3 consecutive times can keep the trophy forever.

Since it started, the battle for the prestigious trophy has always been attracting many television networks to cover the huge event. All matches are broadcast in the European countries and in many other countries. The popularity of the game attracts over 200 million viewers around the world.

Adidas Predator Football Boots

The first version of the Predator was designed by ex-Liverpool striker Craig Johnson, and was created to increase the contact between football and boot on impact, to provide greater ball control. His change to the boot's outstep also allowed players to add spin and after touch. Adidas Predator Football boots were heavily marketed, and celebrity endorsements throughout the 1994 FIFA World Cup ensured that the boots received the attention they deserved. The Rapier came out the following year, and was the only of Adidas' Predators to be released outside of a World Cup or European Championship.

It is not only the distinctive style of the Adidas Predator's that has garnered them so much attention, but also the technical innovations in boot technology. The Adidas Predator Touch (released immediately prior to Euro 1996) was the first boot, for example, to have moulded studs rather than the traditional detachable studs, something that has since become an option for most football boots. The Predator Precision took the idea of different studs further by providing removable Traxion studs, with each designed for a different pitch condition.

Anyone Can Play Billiards

People of any age can learn as long as they have patience and good eye-hand coordination. If you don't get frustrated easily, before you know it, you are doing well and having fun. Then when you go to someones house for a get-together and someone says, "let's go play some pool", you can join in on the fun times and laughter to be had around the billiard table.

Its a great past time for families who love to spend time playing together. But watch out, because the kids will get hooked on the competition aspect of the game and then you'll have to teach them about being a good sport!

Watching billiards on television can be quite an educational experience in itself. If you have a table at home and you or your kids like the game, I would recommend setting your DVR or VCR to record billiards matches which will most often be shown on ESPN. These matches usually consist of professional players. Who better to watch and learn from than the best players in the world.

Different Types of Billiard Balls

Every set of billiard balls is made in the same basic way. They are all round, and made of some variation of a plastic compound. The earliest pool balls were made from wood, with ivory being the next most common material used. This stopped, however, when people realized that they were killing all the elephants off because only 8 balls could be made from the tusks of a single elephant.

Celluloid was used for awhile, but it can sometimes be harmful, so now different chip-resistant plastic compounds are used. Billiard sports experts have their favorite brand of balls to use. The untrained person, however, will probably be happy with any brand of ball. Each billiard game is played with a different size and number of balls.

Each game of billiards uses different billiard equipment. The game that uses the biggest set of balls is Carom. This game only uses three or four balls, and they are red, white, and white with a dot. There are several games that can be played with these balls, and they are usually played on pocket-less billiard tables. American billiards pool uses the next biggest ball. All of the American games use pocket games, and there are 16 of them. The first 7 balls are solid colors, and the last 8 are stripes.

The cue ball is always white. Some games use all the balls, but others use only 10. The next biggest sized game balls are used in British billiards, which is sometimes called blackball. These balls are 16 again, with half red and half yellow, and a white cue ball and a black 8 ball.

Prostate Cancer Treatments

There are many treatment options for prostate cancer available today. Basically the type of treatment will depend on the extent of the disease as well as the age and health of the patient, expected life span, personal assessment of the potential risks and side effects of the treatment.

For tumors that are still contained within the prostate itself, radiation therapy and radical prostatectomy are common treatment options. Sometimes, no treatment is given until the tumor gets bigger. For the older men who have larger risks of dying from other health problems rather than the prostate cancer, a 'watchful wait' approach is often adopted. The doctor will monitor the tumor's growth by constantly checking the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels. If the cancer is not too serious, there will be no further treatment. Once the tumor grows, hormone therapy is usually given. Hormone therapy basically reduces the level of androgens. The androgen male hormone helps in the growth of prostate tumor, hence reducing the level will cause the tumor to shrink over a period of time.

NBA Rules

There are hundreds, if not thousands of different rules that govern the way that ball is played in the National Basketball Association. These rules cover everything from court size to the duties of the officials. If you're somewhat unfamiliar with the game, however, here is a brief overview of how it is played without putting too much emphasis on the details.

Each player that is in control of the ball must continually dribble the ball. Dribbling means the ball has to be in constant motion between the floor of the gym and the player's hand. In other words the ball is bounced off the floor of the court. To stop dribbling and take a few steps would be a penalty that is known as traveling. You can either carry the ball yourself while dribbling it or pass it to your teammates. That is how you move the ball down the court and towards the basket.

If the ball happens to go out of bounds whenever you're playing, the last team that touched the ball is at fault. The opposing team would gain control of the ball and throw it into their teammates from the spot at which the ball exited the court. There are several other violations, such as illegal contact which would result in a penalty.

Foul Facts

Calling fouls is very subjective, but you have to honor the referee's calls. Knowing more about fouls will help you to learn what a foul is and why it may be called. You will also learn a bit about what happens in each situation when a foul is called. This understanding can also help prevent you from taking fouls too lightly since you will understand the penalties and risks associated with getting a foul called against your team.

The definition of a foul is an attempt to disadvantage another player outside the scope of the rules. They are usually committed through physical contact. Fouls are usually called on defense, but offensive players can commit them also. As mentioned, fouls can be a source of controversy because they are completely left to the discretion of the referee. There are also different types of fouls and different rules apply to how the foul is penalized depending on the game play at the time of the foul.

There are limits placed on how many fouls a team can get during a game. Once the maximum allotted number of fouls have been made the rules change about penalties. When the team gets fouls over the maximum allowed the other team will get one to two free throws for each foul over. The exact rules vary from league to league. It is also possible for a player to be fouled out of the game, meaning when they get too many fouls they are no longer allowed to play for the remainder of the game.

The Heart of the Miami Heat

Dwyane Wade was drafted by the Miami Heat in 2003 where he quickly emerged as a solid player averaging 16 points per game with a 46% shooting average and around 4 assists per game all in his rookie year. While improving his game with outstanding performances in the playoffs he fell short to the selection of the 2004 NBA All-Rookie Team, placing his third in rookie of the year voting just behind Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James.
In the 2005-2006 Wade led his second All-Star Game with game winning performances to lead the East over the West 122-120. In the 2006 NBA playoffs, Wade resurrected his team to stardom while enduring some injuries while facing off with the Detroit Pistons. When the Miami heat faced off with the Dallas Mavericks, Wade made some of his most memorable plays to date finishing with 42 points (tying his career playoff high) and a career high of 13 rebounds. The Heat went on to win Game 6, taking the series 4-2, and Wade was presented the honorable Final MVP trophy. Dwyane Wade's career achievements include: 2006 NBA Champion and NBA Finals MVP, 4-time NBA All-Star (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008), 3 Time All-NBA (2005, 2006, 2007), 2005 All-Defense, 2004 NBA All-Rookie Team,

One of the Most Important Skills in Basketball is Rebounds

If you have ever played basketball, you know that it is a very physical sport. You have to be strong, speedy and smart to be good at basketball, and there is only one way to get to that level - practice. Practice gives you the skill to outplay and outwit your opponents on the basketball court.

There are different basketball skills that need practice: shooting, running, dribbling, free throws and rebounds. A rebound is when you gain possession of the basketball after a field goal or a free throw. After a player takes a shot and misses, the ball bounces - or rebounds - back into play. Whoever can get to that rebound first gets the ball, and usually another chance to try and score.

There are two types of rebounds in basketball: offensive and defensive. Most rebounds are made by players on defense, since they are usually in a better position to get the rebound because they are situated closer to the net. Snatching a rebound is one of the best ways for the defense to gain possession of the basketball.

There are several traits that are common to great rebounders: agility, endurance, speed and strength. No matter what your physical make-up, you can train to achieve top-notch skills in all of these areas on the basketball court. If you are fast, strong and build up your stamina, you can be a successful rebounder.

Unfortunately, there is one attribute associated with good rebounding that cannot be learned in the gym or on the court: height. It is a fact of nature that the taller players have an advantage over smaller players when it comes to getting the rebound, and all of the training in the world is never going to make you taller. There are ways to make up for a deficit in height though.

Keep Yourself Injury-Free

Some of the more common injuries associated with a basketball game include sprains to the wrists, hands and fingers. Ankle sprains as well as head and facial injuries including injury to the teeth are also common. The reason for this is that falls are a natural part of this game, as is player contact, and if a basketball player lands awkwardly it could be just enough to twist the ankle. Quite often changes in direction can come without warning and must be dealt with swiftly, leaving players open to collision with other basketball players or being hit by the basketball.

Bearing these things in mind, it is always a good idea for players to have a plan of action in mind to avoid injury, when they are on the court. There are a number of measures that basketball players can take to help themselves avoid injury and stay safe on the court. Following is a practical list of advice to help basketball players stay injury free and on their feet.

The Great Problem Solver

This topic is nothing new, the conversation around why it is that whenever a city or town perceives there is a major problem with the youths in their locations (code words for too many black youths are hanging out), the most often mentioned and accomplished solution is to build a basketball court? In fact the town that I reside in has just built a number of outdoor basketball courts, albeit with no programming, it's a simple case of "If you build it they will come" The intentions are noble, but the risk of failure is also high. Because all it will take is for one terrible incident to happen and the courts will be closed down. Yet with no programming in place we leave it up to the young people to police themselves and keep everything in check (risky) The proponents of this strategy for building basketball courts to address youth problems will argue that its a healthy way for these young people to channel their excessive energy in a positive manner, and law enforcement officials although many won't say publicly like the idea , because they can keep an eye on a large number of potential suspects especially if they are at one central location. On the flip side the opponents of such strategy will argue that not everyone wants to play basketball as a way to keep busy, and in some cases these courts can become trouble spots for all type of illegal transactions, and violence. Whose right whose wrong? As a basketball coach I know all of the benefits that are associated with playing the game, however as I wrote in a previous story (Sports Addiction) I also am very aware of the negative impacts of sports, particularly in the black community. I hear this statement all the time "The kids love basketball" no kidding, if you were bombarded with thousands of images and constantly brow beat with one option for success, would it be any surprise that you would have a passion for that field.

Pau Gasol Started Wearing Lakers Jerseys

Pau Gasol, who turned 28 this July, was born in Barcelona Spain. Paul is a 7'0 forward/center for the Los Angeles Lakers. As a youngster growing up in Spain, Pau played basketball with his two brothers, Marc and Adria. Marc is also a professional basketball player. In High School Pau played with his team called "Llor", and after that signed with C.B. Cornella. By the age of 16, Pau was playing for the Barcelona Junior National Team. He played in Europe from 1997-199, where his final season he averaged over 11 points and 5 rebounds playing in just 24 minutes a game.

Pau entered the 2001 NBA draft, and was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks, who immediately traded his rights to Memphis, for Shareef Abdur-Rahim. As a Grizzles star for seven seasons, he still today holds the franchise record for games played, minutes played, field goals made- and attempted, free throws made and attempted. He also leads in offensive-defensive- and total rebounds, blocked shots, turnovers and points. Pretty much every stat in the Grizzles record book belongs to Gasol.

This past February Gasol was given one of the Lakers Jerseys, in a trade the Lakers Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie, Marc Gasol and first round picks in 2008 and 2010. Pau decided to continue to wear his #16 jersey with the Lakers. He has worn that number his entire professional career. In his first start with the Lakers Gasol poured in 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Gasol played a month with the Lakers before rolling his ankle causing him to miss nearly a month of action. When Gasol returned, he played the last few games before starting the playoffs with the Lakers. Gasol was able to win his first career playoff game, and also advance to the NBA Finals- falling to the Boston Celtics.

Perfect Free Throws

Free throws come into play quite a bit during a basketball game. Being good at free throws is beneficial to your team, and every player should work to be good at them. Choosing who makes the free throws is not always going to be an option. Being able to make free throws is something that every player must know how to do.
When you are practicing you should have a routine you follow when making free throws. Having a routine will help you to relax and get into the groove to make the shot. You can do whatever makes you feel comfortable. You have 10 seconds to get prepared, so use those 10 seconds to relax and limber up. Also make sure you set up your shot in a routine manner.

How to Pick a Good Basketball Uniform

First, decide exactly what you need. Is it just the top or a complete uniform with top, shorts, shoes, etc. Many teams opt to just order the tops and have the player provide a pair of black shorts to go along with the uniform. This is a good idea if you are on a tight budget, but if it is possible, it is much better to go with at least the top and shorts.

Second, it is important to consider if you will be using two sets of uniforms, one for the home games and a different one for away games. In most city leagues, you will only be required to supply one color jersey. However in more formal game play, for example, high school leagues, you will be required to supply a colored jersey for away games and a white jersey for home games. Be sure to check your league rules before placing your order. Also, if you must have a colored and a white jersey, consider using a reversible jersey.

The last thing to consider is the artwork that will be placed on the uniform. Typically a basketball uniform has the team name on the front chest with the number below. The number is also placed on the back in a larger size. Many people also choose to place the player's last name on the back of the uniform. If you decide to complete the uniform with the shorts, often times people will have the team logo placed on the shorts right above one of the knees.

Great Practices

I was fortunate to spend 4 days last year observing Tom Crean's practices at Marquette. What I learned from Coach Crean was to make everything competitive. Coach has everyone in practice on their toes; the assistant coaches and managers' work as hard as the players. Although completely organized as a staff, Coach Crean runs practices off the top of his head. He makes everyone in the gym react to him. If you get a chance, go see his practices at Indiana. His players compete, they communicate and they react to the constant curveballs he throws at them. They are genius, and reflect his personality.

I try to get better as a coach every day. Fundamental to my growth is taking from the best in the game and to mold their ideas into my values on basketball. Great practices have to adhere to your personality in order to get your players to buy in. I have taken all the things I have observed from great coaches and shaped them into my philosophy on the game of basketball. Components I feel are essential to great practices include:

United States Men's Basketball

The US Dream Team dominated the competition with power, style and grace putting a show that has since been the benchmark for all team sports to be played. The USA continued their dominance in two encore performances in Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000. In Athens in 2004 the US was expected to repeat their previous dominance in international competition when they were stunned by Puerto Rico in their first game of the Olympic competition. This also made Puerto Rico the first team other than the Soviet Union to beat the United States in Olympic competition.

The United States successes and failures have not been without their controversies. In 1972 in Munich the United States were beaten for the first time in Olympic competition by the USSR in controversial fashion when the referee decided to replay the last three seconds numerous types until the USSR scored the winning basket. The Dream Team also caused controversy when HIV positive basketball star Magic Johnson decided to play at the games. While many players supported the idea, some players and fans were outspoken against it. As a team with such high profile their successes, failures and controversies receive much media attention and scrutiny.

Michael Jordan vs Kobe Bryant

Who is the better NBA player Kobe Bryant or Micheal Jordan? The question is hard to answer since both players didn't compete against one another in the prime of their playing career. This answer of opinions can be arugued strongly both ways. Micheal Jordan is the pioneer of the new generation of basketball. His creative dunks and his wicked fade-away jump shots made him the MAN!!! in the late 80's and early 90's. However, this is a new age of basketball with the highest competition and skill level ever seen in the NBA. The NBA has some of greatest athelets and skilled players to ever play in the NBA, such as: Kevin Garnett, Allen Iverson, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, T-Mac, or Tim Duncan. These players are great NBA players who give thier all, but Kobe Bryant has separated himself from the greats today. Kobe is the most feared NBA scorer in the league today and maybe of all time. I've watched Kobe make 9 straight three point shots to tie the consecutive three point shots made record and then he hit 3 more to break the record of most three point shots in a game. In his career, Kobe has
Kobe also has a the second most points every scored in a game by a single player, which was 81 points. This record is more impressive than Wilt Chamberlain's 100 points because the rules were different back then. Players were allowed to grab the ball off the rims, and since Wilt Chamberlain was the only 7 footer he dominated the games. Kobe's 81 was done in the modern NBA which is extremely difficult especially at the shooting guard position.

Training For Court Dominating Strength

Yes and all individual skills must be mastered or in the progress of mastery for completion as a player. Individual basketball skills include but are not limited to shooting, passing, cutting, rebounding, defending, awareness, and helping.

Daily practice requirement for the pursuit of skill mastery is to the point of execution failure. For example; chest pass to a partner as explosive as you can. Have the partner throw the ball back quickly and then repeat the rapid chest pass. Once you are no longer accurate to your partner, the passing fundamental is over.

It is very important to develop correct habits so that the motor patterns can be remembered properly when you need them the most. At the end of a game when you are exhausted, you will not have to worry about a pass getting to a teammate. You know it will since you practiced diligently in your training.

Incredible Ways to Jump High

I'm going to share with you some of the most incredible ways to jump higher. When it comes to basketball, there is a lot of doors that open up to athletes that can jump higher. When you see people in the NBA, these people have trained for years to be able to jump as high as they can. They've worked with top trainers in the world that have some of the best exercises that allows them to add 6-12 extra inches to their jump. Just think of what you could accomplish if you had that much extra in height. I'm going to show you exactly what you're going to need to do to accomplish that.

One of the ways to jump higher is a very simple method; walk around on the tips of your toes. It sound easy, but it is incredibly hard. I've seen athletes try this and not being able to do it for long. Thirty minutes is the standard for this exercise. It works the exact muscles required to jump, but it does a little more than that. It actually helps them remain springy, so you'll get that quick push off the ground.

Looking Ahead to the 2009 Draft

Blake Griffin, Forward, Oklahoma: At this point, Griffin is the frontrunner to be the number one pick in the '09 draft. He had a great freshman season at Oklahoma and likely would have been a lottery pick in the '08 draft had he not decided to stay in school. Griffin reminds some scouts of Carlos Boozer and possesses both NBA-readiness and solid upside.

Brandon Jennings, Guard, Arizona*: Jennings has the potential to be a special playmaker. His athleticism is nearly unparalleled and it allows him to play above the rim much more than one would expect from a 6-2 player. He's an excellent passer, but tends to get flashy at times which could lead to a high turnover rate on the next level. He's got all the talent in the world, but there are questions about his coachability and decision making. He's definitely a player who will sell NBA tickets, but it's not certain that he's a player whose style will win games.

“I didn’t want to settle for a jump shot,” said James, who was named the game’s MVP for the second time in three years. “I wanted to be aggressive and try to get to the hole to get the layup.
Like he has done all season, James showed the world why he is the league’s best all-around player, finishing with 27 points (12-for-22 shooting), handing out nine assists, grabbing eight rebounds, blocking two shots and making two steals.
